Heroic end for this member of the Seven? | This Article Contains Spoilers

While the draw for the latest episode of The Boys was the eponymous HEROGASM event, there was a lot more going on than the infamous Super Orgy.

Thanks to Soldier Boy’s uncontrollable explosion, many VOUGHTS heroes met chaotic ends, but others met their fate in a more powerful way. A-Train in particular was involved in perhaps his most important scene of the whole series, but was it really his last? Jessie T. Usher did an admirable job of capturing A-Train’s self-righteousness while also providing insights into the strong morals he has, however deeply buried they may be. HEROGASM was a huge episode for A-Trains Arc. He was previously involved in some of the show’s most depraved storylines, and his killing of Robin in the pilot was the catalyst for Hughie’s involvement in The Boys.

Despite his previous disastrous antics, A-Train recently embarked on a small redemption arc. By standing up for his brother and his community against the racist manner in which Blue Hawk patrolled the predominantly black neighborhood, A-Train was finally seen as something heroic. It was this story that surfaced in HEROGASM as he and Blue Hawk faced off in one final battle.

Prior to this encounter, however, A-Train encountered a naked Hughie at the event. Fans will know that these two have a long history, all of which began with the aforementioned murder of Hughie’s girlfriend. It was this incident that prompted Hughie to confront A-Train on HEROGASM, and he urged A-Train to finally apologize for his involvement in Robin’s death. To Hughie’s surprise, A-Train apologized, and it wasn’t just a cheap dismissive apology. He became emotional reliving it and explained his understanding of the pain it caused. For once, he seemed almost human. That expression of emotion and genuine regret for his actions didn’t undo what he had done, but it showed that A-Train turned a corner and left Hughie with the apology he had craved since first meeting.

Things then took a turn. After the Soldier Boys’ devastating explosion, a fleeing Blue Hawk was called by A-Train. In true Blue Hawk fashion, he dismissed the importance of the A-Trains confrontation, but was soon grabbed by the throat as the speedster would vent his frustration and tell Blue Hawk he wasn’t going to get away with his wrongdoing, not this time . Blue Hawk had long terrorized the A-Trains brothers’ neighborhood, being overly aggressive towards the black community, and even kicking someone to the curb. At an event where he previously agreed to apologize, Blue Hawk got into a brawl that left A-Trains’ brother paralyzed.

These past events were the driving force behind A-Trains’ frustrations. After a brief exchange of words, A-Train brought Blue Hawk down, grabbed his ankle and mercilessly dragged his body across the streets while running at full speed. The two finally came to a halt, and after panning over a brutally battered Blue Hawk, the camera pulled to a breathless A-Train. Gasping for air and clutching his chest, he collapsed to the ground in pain. After a brief struggle, A-Train fell silent and lay flat on the ground. Aside from the soft sounds of birds chirping, the scene was silent as A-Train appeared lifeless.

The story of A-Trains started with him killing someone with his powers and it seems to be coming full circle as the powers he was always so selfish in using became his downfall. If this is truly the end for A-Train, he eventually died doing what the seven should do, standing up for the downtrodden who cannot defend themselves. Fans will find out if this speedster on the road to redemption has breathed his last when the next episode of The Boys airs on Prime Video this week.
