For the first time in the history of the iPhone, Apple will probably give its new iPhones different generations of chipsets. Expectations were that the differences between them would be small, but a new leak may have dashed those suspicions. In a shock to the system, anonymous leaker iHacktu reports that Apple’s new A16 chip, exclusive to iPhone 14 Pro models, is delivering seismic performance and battery gains over the 2021 A15 retained for non-Pro models becomes. And the findings were endorsed by one of the industry’s most respected insiders.
Breaking down the results, iHacktu says that A16 has 42% and 35% faster CPU and GPU performance compared to its predecessor respectively. Gains of this magnitude have not been seen since the iPhone 7s A10 chip in 2016, which had 40% higher CPU performance and 50% higher GPU performance than the A9 in the iPhone 6S 2 hours 10 minutes of endurance and a jump in fast charge speed with iPhone 14 Pro models charged to 50% in just 16 minutes. That’s half of the 30-minute time that Apple claims for the iPhone 13 Pro.
